Here are the top stories in East Hampton today:

  1. 'Milestones' Reached In Airport Deactivation Plans: Town: The East Hampton town board updated the public Wednesday on efforts to deactivate the town's airport and replace it with a private-use facility — stating that several "milestones" had been reached. (East Hampton Patch)
  2. For the first time in its 19-year history as a club, the East Hampton YMCA Hurricanes Swim Team won the New York State YMCA Championships this past weekend, which were held at the Nassau County Aquatic Center. (Subscription: 27east.com)
  3. Five people have been left homeless while property worth thousands of dollars was reduced to ashes. "A fire swept through a Bridgehampton home early Friday, March 18. One apartment in the house at 131 Narrow Lane was occupied by Tony Lambert, a Bridgehampton postal clerk, and his cousin, Robierre Brown, a custodian in the Sag Harbor School District." (Subscription: Sag Harbor Express)
  4. After writing 13 cookbooks and countless episodes of cooking shows, Ina Garten reveals that she is not a "comfortable" cook. “Cooking is really hard for me,” she explains to Page Six in an exclusive new interview. “If I’m making dinner for four people, I’m like, ‘How’s this going to happen?’ I really am. I’m really not a confident cook.” Garten, 74, surmises that her lack of confidence in the kitchen is due to the fact she is not a professional chef, so she never had to make something “over and over and over again,” stated Page Six.
