Here are the top stories in East Hampton today:
- Mark your calendar! Springs Tavern is set to reopen on July 1— with a new name, owner and menu. Alex Rossi, who practically grew up in his father's restaurant, the acclaimed Parioli Romanissimo on the Upper East Side, calls the restaurant Springs Tavern and Grill. Rossi's vision is to create "a year-round eatery with affordable prices and a welcoming atmosphere." Call the Springs Tavern and Grill at 631-604-6944. (East Hampton Patch)
- "Go, Canes!" This week, the Westhampton Beach High School girls varsity lacrosse team "made history when they brought home the program's first Long Island championship win," Patch reported. Now they are off to compete for the New York State title in the semi-finals. (Patch)
- The 154th Belmont Stakes returns Saturday, June 11. Gates opens at 9 a.m. The event will feature performances by DJ Pauly D, Sal "The Voice" Valentinetti and Black Tie Brass. Tickets start at $40; Belmont Park, Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont. (belmontstakes.com)
