Baking Contest: Channel your inner witch or wizard and whip up a great spice cake and see how it compares
to some historic spice cake recipes our volunteers are preparing!
Taste tests and prizes await!
Do you think you have what it takes to win a baking contest? Put your own spin on this classic cake recipe and enter our spice cake contest to see how your recipe matches up
against the original recipes from our archives! The winning baker will receive a prize!
All cakes should be delivered to the library by Friday, October 25th for judging at our Halloween at the Library event on Saturday, October 26th!

🎃 Pumpkin Carving Contest: Adults, show off your carving skills for a chance to win!
Carve a pumpkin with a design of your choosing (please keep it family friendly!) and submit to the Adult Reference desk on Friday, October 25th to be included in our Halloween at the Library event! All submissions will be judged by the public and a prize will be awarded to the winner!

🎨 Pumpkin Decorating for Kids: Let your little ghouls and goblins get crafty with our decorating station!
Located in the Reference Courtyard
🎲 Games & Crafts: Enjoy a variety of fun games and spooky crafts for all ages!
– (Just for Kids) Haunted Children’s Carnival – Head to the Children’s Room to let the kids try our haunted carnival games! Make sure to stop in the DVD room when they’re done to grab their goody bag!
– (All Ages) Spooky Scavenger Hunt – Head to the Baldwin Room to pick up your Scavenger Hunt sheet. Check off each item as you find it and stop at any public service desk for a prize!
– (Teens & Adults) Halloween Trivia – Teens and Adults can try their hand at Halloween and Horror Movie Trivia – Jeopardy Style!
– (All Ages) The Not So Spooky Walk – Brace yourselves for a fun and not scary walk through our spooky fiction corridor! Fun for everyone!
– (All Ages) Halloween Craft – Visit the front lobby to make a fun Halloween themed craft!
– (Teens & Adults) Halloween Craft Stations – High School students and Adults can head to the YA Room to try making 3 different Halloween themed crafts! While you’re there, make sure to vote for your favorite decorated skeleton created by the teens!
📸 Spooky Photo Ops: Capture the magic and mischief with our frightfully fun photo backdrops!

Listen to a scary (or not so scary) story, Learn about East Hampton’s spooky history or Watch a movie!
– (Just for Kids) “Campfire” Ghost Stories – Stop by the Children’s Courtyard for some child-friendly ghost stories around the “campfire”!
Stop by at the top of every hour for a new story!
– (Adults) Scary Short Stories – Join some of our librarians for some readings of some of our favorite scary short stories!
– (Adults) Historic Recipes Display – Take a look at the display cases in the front lobby to check out some of our collection of historic recipes from the Long Island Collection!
– (Teens & Adults) Two Sentence Horror Story Contest – Head to the YA room to try your hand at writing a horror story in just two sentences!
– (Adults) Gravestones & Epitaphs – Visit the Long Island Collection to check out images of some of the historic gravestones and epitaphs!
– (Adults) Witch Trials and Cemeteries with Hugh King – Stop by our Reading Room at 1:00PM to hear Village Historian Hugh King discuss the Goody Garlick witch trial of the 17th century, as well as, the history of our cemeteries. A can’t miss discussion!
– (Adults) Haunted Places of Long Island – Visit the Reference Room to learn about some of Long Island’s spookiest spots!
– (All Ages) Halloween Movies – Need to relax for a minute or two?? Head to the Baldwin Room to catch a family friendly Halloween movie! While you’re there, grab a temporary tattoo, color a Halloween picture or even get your face painted!
