Lobster Roll Showdown in the Hamptons

Where's your favorite spot to indulge in a delicious lobster roll?

EAST HAMPTON, NY — Nothing says summer eating in the Hamptons better than a lobster roll. And the East East is blessed with an abundant array of delectable choices at almost every dining spot.

Here's a list of some of the must-hit lobster roll spots in the Hamptons:

Bostwick's Chowder House in East Hampton is a small space with a few outdoor tables surrounded by a white picket fence. But there’s nothing simple about their lobster rolls. They're classic — plenty of lobster meat on a slightly toasted bun with not too much mayo. The eatery, a family-centric hot spot, is so popular there's often a wait, so hungry diners could be vying for a table alongside Gwyneth Paltrow and her family.

Next up is Silver's in Southampton, which at first glance, doesn’t seem like a lobster roll kind of place. While it's been in the same location on Main Street since 1923, only serving lunch, the charming spot is perfect for the Southampton ladies who lunch. It’s got style along with truly fabulous lobster rolls.

From the classy ambiance of Silver's, head east to the authentic casual vibe of the Clam Bar at Napeague in Amagansett. It doesn't look like much more than a beach shack, but that’s what makes the popular spot the perfect place to kick back with all things seafood, especially favorites including fried clam strips — and lobster rolls.

No local East Ender or visitor can ignore the most famous place of all for lobster rolls—The Lobster Roll aka Lunch, located across Montauk Highway from the Clam Bar. And while there is often a serious line for a table at Lunch for lunch and dinner, it’s worth the wait. Their infamous cold lobster roll is a staple, but also on the menu is a hot lobster roll, “tasty chunks of hot lobster served in drawn butter with toasted hot dog buns on the side.” The restaurant, which has seen a burst of prime-time popularity since it's been featured in Showtime's "The Affair," also serve lobster sliders, mini versions of the classic roll, as well as a lobster bowl —one scoop of lobster salad over a small tossed salad. Also featured is a lobster platter; all dishes are made from the same lobster salad recipe that was created in 1965.
