Management: Gurney's Inn Has Not Been Sold

Rumors had been swirling that the resort had changed hands.

Following rumors that in Montauk had been sold, the resort management are speaking out.

"Gurney’s Inn has not been sold," according to a statement from the management at Gurney's on Monday afternoon. "Currently conversations are taking place between Gurney’s timeshare owners and a potential investor. At this point we are not at liberty to discuss those conversations."

Rumors had been swirling for several weeks that the resort was under new management.

Paul Monte, the general manager, declined to comment further, other than to say that it is business as usual at the oceanfront resort.

Gurney's was founded in 1926. Nick Monte purchased it in 1956, and the resort is still managed by the Monte family. Gurney's became a timesharing co-op in 1982.
