Montauk Library Budget Passes in Landslide
Tax increase of just over of 4 percent expected in $730k budget.

The Montuak Library 2013-2014 budget passed in a landslide over the weekend, approving a budget carrying a 4.05 percent increase.
According to Library Director Karen Rade, 82 people voted for the budget, with just 4 voting against.
Next year's $732,000 budget jumps about $31,000 year-over-year over last year, with most costs – over $29,000 – coming in personnel. Personnel costs consist of just over half of the library's carrying costs.
The library will save money next year in several categories. Building repair will come down over $6,000, insurance costs will come down $5,000, and a handful of other areas will see savings of about $1,000. Click here to see next year's budget, and here to see the current year budget.
