Montauk FD Responds To Dryer Fire

Smoke reported in the basement, but fire quickly extinguished.

The Montauk Fire Chief extinguished a fire in a dryer that caused a basement to fill with smoke. 

The fire was reported in Montauk on South Emden Road, in Shepherd's Neck on Wednesday afternoon.

The Montauk Fire Department was called out at about 2:40 p.m. Chief Richard Schoen quickly extinguished the blaze that caught a comforter and some clothes on fire. 

He reported there was smoke in the basement and requested a fan to air out the basement.
