Photos: Hamptons Marathon Has Successful 7th Run

Nearly 2,000 runners came out for the 7th annual Hamptons Marathon and Half-Marathon, which started in Springs, on Saturday.

Aaron Mendelsohn, a 39-year-old fromΒ New York City, broke the top time in the 26.2-mile race history with a time ofΒ 2:50:27, keeping a pace of 6:31.Β 

Deanna Culbreath, a 34-year-oldΒ New York woman, was the first woman to cross the finish line, coming in seventh overall, with a time of 3:09:00.Β

In the half-marathon,Β Ryan Hagen, a 22-year-old from Sag Harbor, finishedΒ 1:11:05, keeping a 5:26 pace. The first woman to finish was third-place winner overall,Β Delilah DiCrescenzo, a 30-year-old from New York, who finished in 1:15:04, breaking the female course record.

In the 5K, John Fisher, 22, of Middletown, Conn., won with a time of 18:49. Marissa Smith, 26, of New York, was the first female finisher in 19:09.

Girl Scouts from troopsΒ 711, 419, 515, 1768, and 859 offered some relief toΒ runners at water stations.

The Hamptons Marathon and its related events raise money for Southampton Hospital, Project MOST, and the East Hampton Day CareΒ Learning Center. It hasΒ donated over $220,000 to the hospital and Project MOSTΒ since its inception.Β
