Singer/Artist Porschi Denning “Live” At Shagwong June 19th 6-9 PM Thursday June 19th in Montauk

There is a buzz going around Montauk about a new singer/songwriter/artist from St. John U.S.V.I.

Now, she is a Montauk resident artist too. Porschia Denning has been making quite a favorable impression all over the hamlet. She will be appearing at the historic Shagwong, Thursday June 19, from 6-9pm.

For those who attended the 2025 Montauk Blessing of the Fleet, she was the one singing live on the “Anna Mary,” that had all the other boats cozying up close to get a listen. Many posted her performance that day on Tik Tok, Instagram, and Facebook.

Thursday’s event at Shagwong is titled, “Art&Music by Porschia Denning,” because besides singing she is sharing new artwork that will include pieces created during “live” Montauk events this last spring (2025.) The work will include pieces she created inspired by the St Paddy’s Day parade, Montauk Music Festival, Ditch Plains Beach and other magical Montauk locations.

A pure artist on so many levels Ms. Denning is attracting attention because her sound is new, pure and her angelic voice is special. One can get an opportunity to hear her sing both originals and some classics from 6 pm until 9 pm as her artwork will also be presented for viewing and purchasing. However, if you are in the general area it might be wise to sample her charismatic live performance. A prediction: By the end of the summer, it will be tough to get a seat where she performs.

Her live performances generate the feeling of a most pleasant day/evening by the sea whether it be a Caribbean Island, like St. John or the well-loved magic of a perfect Montauk day/evening accented by the special sea breeze. There is no doubt performers are inspired to play by the chemistry that is “Montauk.” Already Montauk is positively affecting Ms. Denning. Her writings, voice and style reaches back to artist like Joni Mitchell and Maria Muldaur with flashes of the artist of today such as Billie Eilish and Kacey Musgraves.

She has said that it is a rush to perform on stage and as an artist she often feels inspired to paint live at events she attends. She uses a sort of out of body experience to reach for what she tries to achieve both on canvas, and on stage. She is now living in Montauk half of the year and then she lives in the USVI in the winter on St John and with that combination how can one go wrong.

Ms. Denning plans to spend this summer painting live at events and weddings. She also will be teaching Paint & Sip classes. If that wasn’t busy enough she also has lined up some Mural jobs and Music performances as well.
