Meet the Independence Party Candidates on Tuesday

Also: The Wellness Foundation is hosting a seminar on Tuesday evening.

Good morning, East Hampton. 

— First, a look at the weather. Tuesday will be mainly sunny. High 64F. Not a bad day. How about taking your lunch to the beach? 

— Congratulations are in order. Carly Grossman, an East Hampton High School senior, was named a National Merit 2014 Scholarship semi-finalist. She's the only one from the South Fork to make the list. East Hampton should be proud. 

— Meet the East Hampton Independence Party candidates — including Larry Cantwell for supervisor, Fred Overton and Dominick Stanzione for town board, Stephen Lynch for highway superintendent, and Carl Irace for town justice— during a celebration of Constitution Day the party is holding at the Meeting House restaurant in Amagansett from 5 to 7 p.m. Hors d'oeuvres will be served, but there will be a cash bar. The suggested donation is $50.

— A benefit reception for the Marine Education Foundation will be held at Ashawagh Hall, where the "Oceans Matter" exhibit is on display. The reception is from 7 to 9 pm. Students from the Springs and East Hampton schools are scheduled to attend the exhibit during the week.

— Also at 7 p.m., the Wellness Foundation is hosting a seminar at the East Hampton Middle School with Dr. T. Colin Campbell, a New York Times best-selling author of  “The China Study" who will speak about his new book, “Whole: Rethinking The Science of Nutrition.” There is a suggested donation of $10 suggested donation. Advanced registration was recommended.
