Voters Approve East Hampton Library Budget
Library director says 79 percent of voters were in favor of $2.1 million budget.

The East Hampton Library's $2.1 millionΒ 2014 operating budget passed on Saturday.Β
Voters approved the budgetΒ 162-to-43, a margin ofΒ 79 percent, according to Dennis Fabsizak, the library director.Β
The library board proposedΒ an increase of $141,263, largely attributed to the children's wing addition at the library, expected to be finish early this winter.
Voters, on average, are looking at a $7.76 per year increase in taxes.Β
Registered voters in the East Hampton, Springs, and Wainscott school districts were eligible to vote.Β
Fabiszak reported that 123 East Hampton voters cast ballots in favor of the budget, while 40 voted against it. Thirty-five voters from Springs approved the budget, while 3 voted against, and just four voters from Wainscott came out in favor of the budget.Β
