1 Detained After Falsely Reporting Explosives Near Trump Rally On Long Island: Police

UNIONDALE, NY — A person who falsely reported explosives were found near Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, the site of a presidential campaign rally for Donald Trump, was detained on Wednesday, Nassau police said.

It happened "in the vicinity of" Charles Lindbergh Boulevard at around 9:30 a.m., according to a police spokesman. He would not specify the exact location.

Charles Lindbergh Boulevard borders the Coliseum to the west.

Police said the person who is being questioned "may have been training a bomb detection dog near the site."

"The individual with the bomb dog falsely reported explosives being found and that individual is currently being detained by police," police said.

The area has been deemed safe, a police spokesman said.
