UNIONDALE, NY — A man accused of stabbing his housemate to death last year has pleaded guilty to charges against him, according to reports.

Newsday reported that Oscar Rios-Perez, 39, pleaded guilty to manslaughter, and will now be sentenced to 25 years in prison.

“The defendant brutally stabbed his housemate Jesus Martinez multiple times and stuffed his body into garbage bags that he then callously discarded on the curb like trash,” said Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly. “We are grateful for Judge [Terence] Murphy’s commitment to sentencing Rios-Perez to 25 years in prison for this appalling crime. Our thoughts remain with Martinez’s family as we bring this defendant to justice.”
