Vides was driving on Old Country Road in Westbury on Sept. 29 when he apparently had a seizure at the wheel and crashed, Nassau Police said. Vides, who has a history of seizures, was advised not to drive and was not properly medicating himself at the time of the accident, officials said.
Martha Candida Hernandez Majano, Vides’ common-law wife, and his four-year-old son, Renen Jr., were also in the car, the DA said. Both died of injuries sustained in the impact, authorities said.
