Nassau Woman Attempts To Open Bank Account With False ID: Police
Tomeka Barton, 46, entered the Flagstar Bank on Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow, wearing a mask to conceal her identity, police said.

EAST MEADOW, NY — A Hempstead woman was arrested on Monday afternoon for attempting to open a bank account and withdraw money using identification that wasn't hers, police said.
Tomeka Barton, 46, entered the Flagstar Bank on Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow, wearing a mask to conceal her identity, police said.
Bank employees recognized Barton as someone who attempted to open accounts at a different location the week before and immediately contacted police.

Barton was placed under arrest without incident.
She is charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, first-degree identity theft, second-degree attempted grand larceny, second-degree criminal impersonation, third-degree unlawful possession of personal identification and the violating the Mask Transparency Act, authorities said.

Barton was expected to be arraigned on Tuesday.
