Town IDA Gives Approval To Help Redevelop Westbury Office Building

The $3 million project will completely change the decades-old building.

WESTBURY, NY — The Town of Hempstead's Industrial Development Agency has given preliminary approval for economic development incentives to help with the renovation of a decades-old Westbury office building.

The IDA approved the package of economic incentives for 875 Merrick LLC and its owner, Charles Piluso, who plans to spend $3 million to renovate the building. The building, which is located at 875 Merrick Ave., used to be the offices of Geico.

Planned renovations include a new roof, facade, new building systems and improvements to the building’s interior.

The project is subject to further IDA review, a public hearing and a final authorizing resolution.

The roughly $3 million project is expected to generate 50 construction industry jobs and 110 permanent full-time equivalent positions.
