Former Mayor Added To Farmingdale Village 'Wall Of Honor'
Mayor Ralph Ekstrand also thanked all involved in planning recent village events and encouraged people to shop and dine locally.

FARMINGDALE, NY — A former Farmingdale Village mayor was honored earlier this month.
George Graf, former mayor, was added to the Farmingdale Village "Wall of Honor" on June 2, the village announced.
"It was wonderful to honor George amidst his family and friends," Mayor Ralph Ekstrand stated. "The former mayor was responsible for securing a planning grant that provided the framework for the redevelopment of the village."

Ekstrand thanked and congratulated Graf for his "vision and ongoing commitment to the community."
As summer arrives, Ekstrand said Farmingdale Village is "the place to be."

"Enjoy local — explore the village and see what's new. Enjoy the parks, blooming flowers, outdoor / open air dining, shopping and the many upcoming community events and merchant activities."
Ekstrand congratulated all Farmingdale and Long Island graduates.
He gave "special thanks" to the Farmingdale Fire Department and everyone who planned, participated and attended the Memorial Day Parade and "heartfelt service." on the Village Green.
"It was truly an amazing tribute!" Ekstrand said. "The community enjoyed another Fabulous Spring Fair and Medieval History Day on June 7!"
The mayor thanked the fire department, Cultural Arts Committee, Trustee Cheryl Parisi, the Village Beautification volunteers, DPW, Fire Department Juniors and all who planted the blooming flowers throughout the village.
The Italian Cultural Society of Farmingdale (ICSF) is set to meet on the last Tuesday of the month, September through June at the Allen Park Clubhouse at 1 p.m. ICSF is a community organization dedicated to the continuation of Italian culture and heritage.
"Meeting topics are varied, educational, entertaining, and fun!" Ekstrand said.
Trips and outings are designed to focus on some aspect of Italian culture. Some philanthropic activities throughout the year include: monetary contributions to Our Lady of Lourdes and the St. Kilian Outreach pantries, scholarships to graduating students of the Italian language, and the pasta and sauce food drive.
