G&L Bagels Of Farmingdale Owners Sell Store: 'It's Been An Honor'
"Thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts. We truly loved being part of this community," said owner Greg Herzing.

FARMINGDALE, NY — The Herzing family has sold G&L Bagels, according to a post made on Facebook.
The shop, at 820 Main St., South Farmingdale, will maintain its name, former owner Greg Herzing told Patch. Most of the staff members will remain at the store, including the bagel maker. The new owners will also use Herzing's recipes, he said.
"Dear Farmingdale family, we can’t believe it’s real, but we’ve officially sold G&L Bagels," Herzing wrote on Facebook. "It’s incredibly hard to say goodbye to this town and this amazing community —the place that taught me to put chips on my bagels!"

Herzing's father opened the store in 1981. Greg met his wife in Farmingdale, and his sister-in-law, children, nieces, nephews and cousins have all worked at the shop.
"This place has truly been home for our entire family," Herzing said. "It’s been an honor serving more than three generations here in Farmingdale. We’ve loved every moment of it, and we’ll miss you all so much. We’ve made so many great memories and lifelong friends over the years. To those of you who became friends and family along the way — we love you and are beyond grateful. You are what made this journey so special."

Herzing thanked everyone who has ever worked at the shop.
"Thank you," he said. "Really, thank you. It’s been an incredible ride, and we feel so lucky to have shared it with you."
Herzing promised that this is not the "end of the bagel road" for him. His father still owns Bagelport in Northport: a shop that has been in the family for 30 years.
"I’ll be heading over there to help him out, so if you’re ever in the area (Larkfield Road!), we’d love to see some familiar faces," Herzing said. "Thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts. We truly loved being part of this community."
