Hewlett Wrestlers Place at State Championships

A total of ten all-county Hewlett PAL youth wrestlers competed in the NY State Youth Wrestling Championships Held in long island this March.  Three of those wrestlers attained All-State Status. One of those wrestlers eighth grader ErikCarlo won the Gold Medal in the MS division and became the third Hewlett wrestler to ever win a NY State Youth Wrestling Championship. Erik had an outstanding performance of 4 wins with three of them by pin. Including a pin in the finals in  30 seconds. Second Grader Joey Iannaci stormed to the finals with three big wins with one by pin. Joey took second place and won the Silver Medal. Along the way Joey defeated the 2nd and 3rd ranked wrestlers in the state. Seventh Grader Anthony Cancellarich took 6th place with three hard fought matches.

Three wrestlers who just missed getting a medal by one win and finished in the top 8 in New York State are 7th grader Josh Pincus who had two wins with one by pin. His brother 6th grader Lucas Pincus had two wins as well including one over an all-state wrestler from last season. Rookie 2nd grader Jeremy Badman in his first season had two big wins with one by pin.

Finishing in the top 12 in New York state were 8th Grader Tredd Smith with one big win by pin. 4th grader Ed Maday won two matches with one by pin. 4th grader Sam Warshall won two matches as well with one by pin. Rookie 7th grader Chris Weiss fought hard in two matches.
