Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY04), who is focusing on helping small businesses as the nation continues its path to economic recovery, is hosting a forum next week that will help small businesses learn how to grow by exporting their goods and services to foreign markets. The event will be Rep. McCarthy’s second one for small businesses in the past month.
Rep. McCarthy is hosting a “Small Business Exporter Forum” at the Cradle of Aviation on April 11 from 8 a.m. until noon. The event, for which attendees are encouraged to RSVP at www.exim.gov/gasb, will feature U.S. Export-Import Bank Chairman and President Fred Hochberg, as well as representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration and even local small businesses talking about how the Export-Import Bank has helped them grow. Long Island Association President Kevin Law will also make remarks at the event, which is free and open to the public.
The Export-Import Bank is already helping 231 exporters in New York State, including six in Rep. McCarthy’s district who have received $34 million in loans since 2007. Rep. McCarthy hopes that more Long Island businesses will expand by taking advantage of the Export-Import Bank’s resources.

“Small businesses and entrepreneurs are the engine of our economy on Long Island and I’m doing everything I can to help them grow and prosper,” Rep. McCarthy said. “Selling local goods and services to foreign markets is a great way to expand a business and the federal government has resources to help people do that.”
On March 25, Rep. McCarthy held a forum explaining small business tax cuts that she helped pass in the 111th Congress.
