“Operation Shoebox” launched by Bristal Assisted

In a move that seeks to connect Long Islanders with the heroes within their own families, Bristal Assisted Living Communities has launched “Operation Shoebox,” a call to action to those who have a long forgotten collection of family photos dating back to World War II.

The first two hundred people who attend Memorial Day activities at the American Airpower Museum on May 30th who come with photos will be offered the chance to have twenty of their family photos digitally scanned and a CD presented to them along with the original images, free of charge, courtesy of the Bristal.

American Airpower Museum Trustee Katuria D’Amato stated, “This is a wonderful opportunity to save a family’s personal history and our collective heritage. We know that across Long Island, family photos taken nearly 70 years ago are fading, ignored or forgotten. Yet in some cases they are the sum and substance of precious heirlooms from that period of time. To encourage rescuing these photos the Bristal is making it easy to save them for posterity this coming Memorial Day weekend.”
