Rep. McCarthy Hosts Local High School Art Competition

As a strong supporter of arts education, Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY04) is bringing her advocacy directly to her district by hosting an art competition for local high school students.

“An education in the arts doesn’t just enrich our souls,” Rep. McCarthy said.  “It’s an important part of the well-rounded curriculum that we need to prepare our young citizens to think critically and creatively in a highly competitive global economy.  While I’m fighting for arts education on Capitol Hill, I’m pleased to also host this competition that will get Long Island teens to put what I’m fighting for into practice.”

McCarthy has been locally hosting this national, House-sponsored annual competition – called “An Artistic Discovery” – since joining Congress in 1997.
