Driver Makes Antisemitic Remarks, Threats In LI: Police

CEDARHURST, NY — A man was arrested for a bias incident in the Five Towns.
Alvin Tirado, 38, of Queens, was driving his Lexus on Friday afternoon in the vicinity of Lincoln Street and Oakland Avenue in Cedarhurst when he made verbal threats and antisemitic remarks before driving away, police said.
A short time later, Tirado was driving in Lawrence when he approached a group of victims, making more verbal threats and antisemitic remarks, authorities said,

Tirado was located and placed under arrest. As he was being put in the back of a police vehicle, he became physically combative, leading to an officer's injury, police said.
The officer was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Tirado was charged with second-degree assault, two counts of second-degree aggravated harassment and two counts of third-degree menacing. He was expected to be arraigned on Saturday.
