Five Towns Patch Turns 1

Site covering community launched one year ago today.

On Nov. 18, 2010, Five Towns Patch launched as the first web-only resource for residents of the Five Towns community.

A team of freelancers and I spent months leading up to that day visiting almost every business in the area to create a directory that has the most up-to-date and reliable information. We also made sure the site had a good mix of stories.

Finally, the site went live on a Thursday morning with articles on a at the Hewlett-Woodmere Library, the in Woodmere and a for Inwood's Five Towns Community Center.

Now, a year later, more than 2,000 articles (some of which are videos, another first for the community) have been published on the site, and thousands of people visit the site every week to keep up to date on our community.

Of course, this would not have been possible without people like you who gave this new concept a chance in a market that's already covered by many other media outlets. For that, I thank you wholeheartedly.

Still, many of our neighbors do not know about Five Towns Patch, and I need your help to get the word out.
