Fourth Precinct Report, May 10 to 17

Police report arrests, a string of car break-ins in North Woodmere, mischief and identity theft.

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Arrests

  • Stephen Hampton, 19, of Inwood, Christopher Lesane, 19, of Far Rockaway, and a 16-year-old from Inwood were arrested on May 11 and charged with shoplifting cold sore medication at in Cedarhurst.
  • Jamie Kennedy, 31, of Springfield, was arrested on May 12 at . Kennedy, an employee of the store, allegedly rung up items at the wrong price between April 23 and May 12, police said. The amount rung up at the register was $103.49; the actual value of the merchandise was $6,159.99.
  • Mohammed Khan, 56, of Jackson Heights, a store clerk at the in Inwood, was arrested on May 13 and charged with selling alcohol to underage customers after an investigation by the Fourth Precinct Plainclothes Unit.
  • David Cotougno, 25, of Lynbrook, was arrested on May 14 and charged with DWI at the intersection of Broadway and Grove Avenue in Cedarhurst.

  • A victim reported to police on May 12 that while shopping at in North Woodmere, she put her purse containing car keys, $250, gift, debit and credit cards, personal papers and a driver’s license inside a shopping bag. When she went to pay, she noticed the purse was missing.
  • A complainant reported to police on May 14 that fishing equipment was removed from the second floor deck of a residence on Trenton Avenue in East Atlantic Beach.

Car break-ins

  • A resident of Briar Place in Woodmere reported to police on May 11 that $265 was missing from both of their vehicles.
  • A complainant reported to police on May 13 that a GPS unit was removed from a vehicle parked on Juniper Circle North in Lawrence.
  • A complainant reported to police on May 16 that the rear passenger window of their vehicle was shattered while parked on Cedarhurst Street in North Woodmere. Credits cards and a wallet were taken.
  • A complainant reported to police on May 16 that the rear passenger window of their vehicle was broken while it was parked on Longview Avenue in North Woodmere.
  • A complainant reported to police on May 16 that the rear passenger window of their vehicle was shattered while it was parked on Duston Road in North Woodmere.
  • A complainant reported to police on May 16 that the passenger window of their vehicle was shattered while it was parked on Cedarhurst Street in North Woodmere.
  • A complainant reported to police on May 16 that the rear passenger window of their vehicle was broken while it was parked on Oakley Road in North Woodmere.
  • A complainant reported to police on May 16 that the rear driver’s window of their vehicle was shattered and $20 was taken while it was parked on Cedarhurst Street in North Woodmere.
  • A complainant reported to police on May 16 that the rear passenger window of their vehicle was shattered while it was parked on Rockaway Turnpike in North Lawrence.
  • A complainant reported to police on May 16 that the driver and passenger side windows of their vehicle were broken with a rock while it was parked on Broadway in Hewlett and a tote bag, hospital ID and personal papers were taken.

  • A resident of Harvard Avenue in Hewlett reported to police on May 9 that they were the victim of identity theft when multiple fraudulent charges were placed on their Chase debit card.
  • A resident of Fairway Drive in Woodmere reported to police on May 16 that they were the victim of identity theft when multiple AT&T cell phone accounts were opened in their name.

Mischief

  • A complainant reported to police on May 11 that two tires were slashed on their vehicle was it was parked on Seawane Road in Hewlett.
  • A complainant reported to police on May 13 that their vehicle was spray painted while it was parked on Johnson Road in North Lawrence.
  • A complainant reported to police on May 13 that the rear doors of their vehicle were dented while it was parked on Smith Street in Inwood.
  • on Central Avenue in Lawrence reported to police on May 14 that an unknown object shattered its front door.
  • A complainant reported to police on May 14 that the air was removed from all four tires of their vehicle while it was parked on Hungry Harbor Road in North Woodmere.
