A Woodmere fencing coach saw one of his athletes win Olympic gold. The Five Towns Community Center will have some needed improvements done soon. Another arrest has been made in the Fourth of July party Roosevelt shooting and a woman is accused of DWI, injuring three people.

- Jeff Bessen explains how the Five Towns Community Center in Lawrence is getting some upgrades. $4 million from the Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery is earmarked for asbestos removal this August, and a new heating ventilation and air conditioning system will be installed soon after. (LI Herald)
- ABC News reports that a second arrest has made in the Roosevelt Fourth of July party shooting. Lawrence Sims, 29, was charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon along with 34-year-old Michael Wright who was arrested last week. (WABC-TV)
- Matthew Cudahy checks out how local high school students are learning the basics of journalism at Hofstra University's High School Summer Journalism Institute. Nine Nassau County students, including four from Valley Stream, one from Elmont and one from Freeport took part. (LI Herald)
- News 12 Long Island talks to Woodmere resident and fencing coach Michael Moktresov, who owns the New York Fencing Academy in Port Washington. He's celebrating coaching Romain Cannon who won an Olympic gold in fencing in the Toyko Olympics. (News 12)
- Alex Costello has the story on a Copiague woman accused of drinking while intoxicated and causing a crash Friday night at the intersection of Merrick Road and Neptune Avenue in Seaford. A 59-year-old woman is in critical condition and two others suffered minor injuries. Joann Kania, 57, was arrested later that night. (Patch)

- Nassau County has announced that a Hempstead restauranteur was sentenced Tuesday to over one to four years in prison for his role in soliciting more than $150,000 in bribes from Hempstead restaurant owners along with former Hempstead Village Trustee Perry Pettus. William Mendez, 50, of Elmont, was an accomplice in a corruption scheme, the county says. (Patch)
- Nassau County Police Department released the pictures of wanted Felony and Misdemeanor criminal offenders in the county here, looking for tips from the public. (Facebook)
