Hewlett Teen to Appear on Plastic Surgery Special
Nick News explores the subject with various kids undergoing procedures.

A Hewlett teenager will be featured on a Nick News special exploring plastic surgery that will air Sunday night, the network announced in a press release.
Younger and younger patients are getting cosmetic procedures done, according to the network, in what has become a $30 billion industry. The release says that while some kids have cosmetic surgery for medical reasons, others are having it just to improve their looks.
Jessica, 16, of Hewlett, is one of many to alter the shape of her nose, the most common cosmetic procedure. The release says that the teen always felt self-conscious about the shape of her nose.

"Every time I looked at myself, there was just something there that bothered me," Jessica said. "It was the one thing I always hated about myself. I had surgery to get my nose done about four months ago. All I want to do now is get rid of those before pictures, because I just love the way I look now."
Nick News with Linda Ellerbee hears from kids who have gone through various cosmetic procedures in the half-hour special, "Minor Adjustments: Kids and Cosmetic Surgery." It premieres Sunday, Oct. 23, at 9 p.m. on Nickelodeon. Beginning Monday the special will be available on iTunes as a free podcast and available Tuesday on Nick.com.
