Hurricane Irene Hit One Year Ago Today
Storm ripped down trees and caused damage in the Five Towns.

It's hard to believe, but a year has already passed since County Executive Edward Mangano urged Nassau residents, including all of the Five Towns, to seek shelter north.
Hurricane Irene swooped in and knocked down our trees and poles and practically destroyed a beach club. The cleanup began immediately, and many villages received compensation from FEMA.
