ELMONT, NY — The New York Islanders will debut their new home after a long stretch to open the 2021-2022 season.

The new schedule, released by the NHL on Friday, has the Isles starting the season on October 14 at the Carolina Hurricanes. A dozen more games will follow before the Islanders unveil their UBS Arena at Belmont Park on November 20 against the Calgary Flames.

The first homestand includes the New York Rangers' initial visit on November 24.

The Islanders got to the Stanley Cup semifinals this past season, losing to the Tampa Bay Lightning, who would beat Montreal for the cup.

The Isles face the Lighting for the first time since the Game 7 playoff loss on November 15. They host Tampa Bay on March 27 and conclude the regular season with their rival on April 28.

The New Jersey Devils visit the Elmont arena on December 11.

While the Isles have a new arena, the NHL has a new franchise this season. The Seattle Kraken appear in Elmont on January 29.
