Here are the top four stories today in Five Towns:

  1. An argument over closing a bedroom window led to a knife attack in Massapequa on Wednesday night. Santiago Real, 49, was arguing with a 55-year-old man about keeping open a window and Real slashed the other man with a small knife, hitting him in the nose, upper arm and chest. (Patch)
  2. Acting Nassau County District Attorney Joyce Smith announced that her office will not press charges against former Gov. Andrew Cuomo for allegedly harassing a female state trooper at an event at Belmont Park in 2019. (Patch)
  3. The Village of Valley Stream voted Monday to opt out of allowing cannabis dispensaries and on-site consumption of recreational marijuana within the village. (LI Herald)
  4. America's largest online used-car seller, with multistory "car vending machines," purchased 1.9 acres of land in Garden City to build a Carvana Customer Center. Carvana paid $9.7 million for the site, on North Avenue. (Subscription: Newsday)

  • The East Rockaway School District's Strategic Planning Committee will meet again soon, to discuss the future of the district. The committee is 35 teachers, administrators, board trustees, staff members, parents and community members. (LI Herald)
  • A new Tex-Mex restaurant called Ole's Fajitas has opened in Wantagh. The spot serves fajitas, burritos, tacos, quesadillas, crunch wraps and fajita bowls. (Greater Long Island)
