Lawrence Teachers File Complaint Over Summer School Program
Allege it takes away opportunities for teachers.

The Lawrence Teachers Association has filed a complaint against that alleges its use of an online summer school program violates the union’s contract by taking away opportunities for teachers.
The LTA, led by Lori Skonberg, brought the complaint in 2011 to the New York State Public Employment Relations Board.
The Adventa program was as part of the district’s 2011 budget as a cost savings measure.

According to the LTA, a total of 36 teachers, from kindergarten to high school, taught summer school in 2010, the Nassau Herald reported.
