Longtime Islanders Voice Named For UBS Arena Press Box

Stan Fischler was associated with the Islanders for 50 years.

ELMONT, NY — The legacy of legendary New York Islanders broadcaster will endure. The Stan Fischler Press Level was named on Wednesday at UBS Arena.

Stan Fischler, 90, covered the team when they joined the NHL in 1972. He would be a presence at Isles games for the next 50 years. Fischler joined SportsChannel in the 1974-75 season for the Islanders' first broadcast.

He was a mainstay for years on fans' screens from SportsChannel to the MSG Network.

Fischler retired from MSG after the 2017-18 season.

The press box isn't just lending a name, it's an exhibit to the iconic hockey voice. There are photos and mementos from Fischler's career and long association with the Islanders.
