Man Arrested In Nassau Elder Scam: Police
The man was set to pick up a woman's credit card after she was told there were fraudulent charges on her card, police say.

INWOOD, NY — A Brooklyn man was arrested in connection with scamming an elderly woman on Wednesday in Inwood, Nassau police said.
A 73-year-old woman received a call from a man she did not know claiming to work for her bank’s fraud department around 9:25 a.m., police said. The man told the woman there were fraudulent charges on her bank card and they would arrange for someone to pick up the card from her, police said. The woman realized she was being scammed and called the police for assistance, police said.
Detectives coordinated with the woman and were able to locate Darren Saunders, 28, and place him under arrest without incident around 5 p.m., police said. Saunders was also found to be in possession of a fraudulent driver's license and a fraudulent credit card, police said.

Saunders was charged with fourth-degree attempted grand larceny, second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, and third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
He is set to be arraigned on Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
