- Police arrested a Queens man at the Five Towns Shopping Center on Rockaway Boulevard in Woodmere early Friday morning. Tevon Montgomery Crooks, of Jamaica, was arrested and found with crack cocaine hidden in his pants and a stolen gun. (LI Herald)
- Nassau County skips conducting required background checks on candidates for management positions, a new county audit reveals.Nassau County Comptroller Jack Schnirman reviewed the hiring of a sample of 78 managers from 2004 through 2018 and found half did not undergo the background reviews.(Subscription: Newsday)
- A 14-year-old Long Island girl has been reported missing from Hempstead. Heimy Rodezno-Flores was last seen leaving her home on Fulton Avenue on foot. (Daily Voice)
- A $30 million Nassau County road overhaul project will start in the spring of 2023 with expected completion by Dec. 31, 2024. It will improve a 2.15-mile stretch of road along West Broadway from Mill Road in Hewlett to Rockaway Turnpike in Cedarhurst. (LI Herald)
