Here are the top stories today in Five Towns:
- The Nassau County Bar Association will host a series of mortgage foreclosure clinics to homeowners at risk of losing their homes, starting Monday. The free clinics will be held in Mineola and give residents ideas for modification or reinstatement of loans. (Subscription: Newsday)
- The Guardian looks at how two Orthodox Jewish baseball players juggle professional baseball and religion. Arizona Diamondbacks drafted Jacob Steinmetz, a pitcher from Woodmere, the first ever Orthodox Jew in the MLB draft. (The Guardian)
- Residents in the Village of Valley Stream can now submit building permit applications completely digitally. The Building Department modernized the process with new software. (LI Herald)
- Jerry Barmash explains that the New York Islanders and UBS Arena have entered into a five-year partnership with St. John's University which will develop a graduate program in the business of sports, entertainment and facilities management. UBS Arena and the Islanders will award two $25,000 scholarships for graduate students. (Patch)
