Police: Man Allegedly Slashed Victim With Landscaping Tool

Two Inwood residents arrested after they allegedly stole $1,100 from the victim.

Two Inwood men were arrested on Monday after one of them allegedly punched a victim in the eye and slashed him with a landscaping tool, police said.

On Monday around 8 p.m. in Inwood, the 36-year-old male victim came to the Clinton Avenue home of defendant Jose Gomez, 44, to discuss a landscaping job both were working on, according to police. An argument broke out, and Gomez allegedly punched the victim in the eye. Gomez then apparently took out a landscaping tool from his belt pouch and slashed the 36-year-old at his stomach and threw him to the ground, police said.

During the altercation, another man, Nathan Thomas, 28, who also lives on Clinton Avenue, allegedly came over and held the victim down while Gomez reached into his pants pocket and took $1,100 in cash, according to police. The victim was able to free himself, return home and call police.
