Police: Man Tried to Rob Woman at Peninsula Chase Bank

Victim was able to get away and go to the Fourth Precinct.

A man that claimed he had a gun attempted to take a woman’s money after she had visited the drive-up ATM in the King Kullen shopping center in Hewlett, according to police.

At around 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, the 66-year-old woman withdrew the cash from the bank, located at 1735 Peninsula Boulevard, when the man approached her open driver side door, police said. The men, holding a cigarette in his left hand, reached in the victim’s car with his right hand while demanding money. The subject stated that he had a gun, although the victim did not see one.

The woman shifted her car into drive and went to the , where she reported the crime, police said. There were no injuries or proceeds.

The subject is described as a white male, approximately late 40s, 5’6” to 5’8”, 170 lbs., clean shaven and wearing a dark baseball cap on backwards and a dark shirt.
