  1. A Suffolk man was sentenced to three to six years in prison for a Long Beach crash that left a passenger seriously injured. East Setauket's William Byrus, age 29, drove over 80 mph in Long Beach while high on marijuana and Xanax before crashing in 2020. (Daily Voice)
  2. Jerry Barmash reports that a fatal car accident happened 2 a.m. Friday in Elmont. A female passenger, 33, died after a BMW hit a car and a utility pole and rolled over. (Patch)
  3. A Baldwin woman was indicted for fraud. Sabine Alexis, 46, is a former state tax compliance agent who is accused of collecting thousands of dollars of taxpayer-funded salary from falsified records. Nassau's DA says she worked other jobs, operated a day care, and took college courses while submitting fraudulent time sheets. (Subscription: Newsday)
