Trio Robbed Man At Knifepoint In Nassau: Police

They held up a man, brandishing knives and a hammer, as he left a grocery store on Mott Avenue, Nassau police said.

INWOOD, NY — A trio of men were charged in connection with a knifepoint robbery in Inwood on Friday, Nassau police said.

A 32-year-old man was leaving El Brother Deli and Grocery Grocery on Mott Avenue at around 9:30 p.m., when he was approached by a group of males brandishing knives and a hammer demanding his money, and he handed over his cash, according to police.

He then left scene uninjured and contacted police.

Detectives found the subjects and placed them under arrest, police said.

Charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree menacing, and fourth-degree possession of a weapon in the incident are Jose Caravante, 20, of Cedarhurst, Jairo Reyes, 20, of Far Rockaway, and Carlos Adonay Reyes of Queens.

They were arraigned on Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.

Caravante and Reyes' bail was set at $3,500 cash, $34,000 partially-secured bond, or $7,000 bond, online court records show. Adonay Reyes' bail was set at $5,000 cash, $10,000 bond, and $49,000 partially-secured bond, records show.
