Hey, neighbors! It's me again, your host of the Five Towns Daily.

A woman was helped by police to deliver a healthy baby boy at home when she couldn't get to the hospital in time. Long Beach and other South Shore towns are bracing for Tropical Storm Henri. And an elementary school in Valley Stream has its first female Black principal.

  1. Jerry Barmash has the latest on how Tropical Storm Henri might affect specifically the South Shore of Nassau County. "Heavy rain, rough surf, high winds, and coastal flooding are possible for our area late this weekend and early next week," the city of Long Beach posted. (Patch)
  2. Lily Cohen talks to a Hewlett teenager who used the pandemic to create a babysitting club. Isabella Santos graduated Hewlett High School in June and then founded The Baby Sitters Club of Five Towns. The club provides child care across Long Island, with vaccinated and CPR-trained sitters.   3. Juan Lasso reports that the first female Black principal has been named to William L. Buck Elementary School in Valley Stream. Johanne Gaddy will succeed Susan Leggett, who retired. (LI Herald)
  4. Alex Costello writes that Nassau County police had to help deliver a baby at a home in Westbury to help 30-year-old Tamara Gaffney, of New Cassel, who couldn't get to the hospital in time. Baby Noah and mom are doing well. (Patch)
