Forest Hills Woman Finds Decades-Old Relics In Her Attic: Report

The Forest Hills homeowner found the first memento, a letter from 1929, when workers were renovating her upstairs bathroom, Fox reported.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — When Erica, a Forest Hills resident of over a decade, renovated her upstairs bathroom she discovered a trove of decades-old memorabilia hidden in the walls of her home.

It all began with a hand-written letter from 1929, which workers found after a day of renovations, Erica told Fox, which first reported this story.

"One guy was like, 'There was a lot more paper and a lot more letters.' And I'm like, 'Really, wow, where are they?' And he said, 'In the garbage,'" Erica told the outlet, describing how she then sifted through bags of garbage in order to find other mementos.

Her findings included more letters, brochures, photos, and a scrapbook, which she thinks came from the attic.

"I'm trying to piece together who this family was and how they turned out and what happened in their lives," she told Fox.

And, it's not a quest that Erica is undertaking alone: According to the news outlet, she's already connected with people on social media who are helping spread the word and search through historical records in the hopes of finding relatives who are linked to the memorabilia.

"I really think it's a matter of time until we find some of the descendants," she told Fox.
