A Brooklyn Brunch Survival Guide
Navigating the tricky scene of eating breakfast on the weekend.
Brunch could be called the most important meal of the weekend—that is, if it wasn't so hard to snag a table without waiting in line for 30 minutes or more on a Saturday morning.
But there's no doubting the wily charms of a good breakfast had after noon—or later—especially if one is a bit, let's say, dehydrated from the hijinks the night before.
So we asked Brooklynites Lacey Stone and Patricia Delude (who collectively have "done brunch," according to them, "zillions of times") to choose some of their favorite brunch hot spots across our beautiful borough.

Prices: Not the cheapest.
Standout Dish: Anson Mills White Grits with, or without, shrimp. $12.

Patricia says: “The beet salad blew my mother away. But if you're in a diner mood looking for big portions, go elsewhere."

Outdoor seating: Yes, beautiful garden with a waterfall
Prices: Very moderate, all inclusive brunch with choice of Bloody Mary or Sangria plus brunch entrée.
Standout dish: Eggs Blackstone, two poached eggs served on top of a grilled portabello mushroom and tomato. $14.
Lacey says: “Food is wonderful, wait time is none... but I warn you, the service is very slow.”
, 236 Underhill Ave., Prospect Heights
Wait: Usually 20 minutes.
Outdoor seating: No **Corrrection, as @Tamara points out, Cheryl's has a "lovely backyard." -Ed.
Prices: Cheap, choice of mimosa, coffee or tea and brunch entrée.
Standout dish: Poached eggs over salmon hash, made with potatoes, onion and, of course, salmon. $12.95.
Patricia says: “There’s no space to wait, but if don’t mind waiting in line for 20 minutes, the services is good and the food is great. And they have specials each week.”
, 225 Seventh Ave., Park Slope
Wait: None
Outdoor seating: Yes, a few tables.
Prices: Not bad, $12.95 gets you brunch and unlimited drinks.
Standout dish: Eggs Salmone, poached eggs with smoked salmon on top of an English Muffin served with hollandaise sauce. $13.95.
Lacey says: “I like Sotto Voce for the unlimited pound cake, but the servers are rude.”
, 584 Myrtle Ave., Clinton Hill

Outdoor seating: None
Prices: Cheap, just remember to tip your waitress.
Standout dish: The soy andouille sausage may the best faux-meat ever formulated in a kitchen and/or laboratory at UC Berkeley. $2.50.
Paul says: "What I love most about this place is that brunch is seven days a week and not limited to the 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. brunch rush hour."
