A Dramatic Transformation For 38-44 Washington Ave.

Once known as "a bastion of grit," the site of the recently shuttered Navy Yard Cocktail Lounge is now barely recognizable.

Located at 38-44 Washington Ave. at Flushing Avenue, the building's nautical-themed exterior has been transformed into something that could quite possibly be its exact aesthetic opposite—namely, sheets of clear glass bolted into tenement brick.

According to Brownstoner, the ground floor of the building—which sold last year for $2,000,000—will be home to another drinking and eating establishment and refurbished apartments upstairs.

Until the bar opens at 38-44 Washington, it looks like still has the lock on the growing, yet captive, Wallabout drinking crowd.
