Afropunk Returns To Fort Greene With Erykah Badu, Miguel And More

The festival will return to Commodore Barry Pary on August 25 and 26 with performances by Badu, Janelle Monae, Tyler the Creator and more.

FORT GREENE, NY — The long-running Afropunk Festival returns to Fort Greene in August with performances by Erykah Badu, Miguel, Tyler, the Creator and more, organizers announced Tuesday.

The festival will be held on August 25 and 26 at Commodore Barry Park and also features performances by The Internet, Jaden Smith, Willow Smith, Janelle Monae, Trash Talk and more, organizers said.

The theme for the concert will be "The People Resist" and will have an installation of "grassroots and non-profit organizations that solve urgent community problems," according to the festival's website.

It will also debut a new system that gives a free ticket to youths in local programs like Recess Art and Young New Yorkers for every general admission one sold, Billboard reported.

Tickets start at $50 for one day or $110 for the entire festival. Afropunk launched in 2005 in Brooklyn and eventually expanded to hosts events in Atlanta, Paris, London and Johannesburg.
