Update: Amber Alert Canceled for 10-Year-Old Celine Hicks
Hicks disappeared Wednesday from her middle school on the Lower East Side.

Update, 3 p.m.: The alert has been canceled and Hicks has been safely recovered, police say. Hicks’ non-custodial mother has reportedly been taken into custody.

The New York City Police Department have upgraded a ”custodial interference” case, in which a young girl’s non-custodial parents abducted her from her Manhattan middle school, to an AMBER alert.

Celine Hicks, a 10-year-old student at Castle Middle School on the Lower East Side, was reportedly last seen at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the school.
At that time, police say Hicks was in the company of her mother, who picked her up from school. However, her mother does not have custody of Hicks, police say; the child currently lives with another family member.

“Celine was abducted by her non-custodial parents Carlos Hicks and Jacqueline Hendricks,” said an emergency notice issued by the missing person squad on Thursday. “They may be operating a 1993 white Chevrolet Lumina with New Mexico registration NGG506.”
The suspect(s) could be in the Bronx or attempting to travel out of state.
The child is believed to be in danger.
Celine Hicks is described as five-feet-four-inches tall and approximately 120 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing a yellow school uniform shirt with “Castle Middle School” embroidered on the front, police say.
Her mother, Jacqueline Hendricks, is described as a 39-year-old Hispanic female who is five-feet-five-inches tall with a medium build, brown eyes and brown hair.
