Time Warner Cable announced Tuesday that Jasmin Hume is the finalist for its Super Connector Search contest.
Hume, a student of Polytechnic Institute of New York University in Downtown Brooklyn, will star in her own public service announcement for Connect a Million Minds, Time Warner Cable’s five-year, $100 million initiative to inspire young people to pursue education and careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
TWC will also donate $5,000 to NYU-Poly’s Applying Mechatronics to Promote Science and Central Brooklyn STEM Initiative, which advocates engaging students with modern technologies such as robotics, mechatronics and sensing as a hook to stimulate them to learn about math, science and technology.

“Inspiring people to pursue STEM-related fields is incredibly important,” said Hume. “My career choice has provided me with opportunities to work and study abroad, and challenge myself in an incredibly rewarding manner. If I am able to successfully transfer my passion and interest in these fields to young minds then I would feel very accomplished.”
Through Dec. 11, anyone can vote for Jasmin Hume or any of Time Warner Cable’s other Super Connector finalists on connectamillionminds.com. The finalist with the most votes will receive an additional $10,000 grant for the STEM nonprofit organization that they support.
