How to Apply for a Low-Income Apartment in Downtown Brooklyn's BAM South Building

A free workshop in Clinton Hill on Wednesday night will coach you through your application.

FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN — If you're at all interested in nabbing an affordable unit in the massive, modern and very, very silver structure called BAM South in Downtown Brooklyn, here's your chance. Churches United for Fair Housing is holding a free workshop to help affordable housing applicants interested in living in BAM South on Wednesday night.

According to workshop organizers, only paper applications are being accepted for these particular units.

The workshop takes place Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 6:30 p.m. at Brown Memorial Baptist Church, 484 Washington Ave., Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.

There are 76 affordable apartments available at 300 Ashland Place, a 32-story monstrosity near Lafayette Avenue with a gym, expansive views and other fancy amenities.

Non-affordable units just went on sale for $2,850 per month for a studio. The affordable rate, by contrast, is $889 per month for a studio.

To qualify, you'll have to make less than $32,640 per year. Section 8, HASA, FEPs, and other rent-subsidized applicants are also encouraged to apply.
