BAM Publishes Digital Archive Of Its Theatrical History
Check out the Brooklyn Academy of Music's new database of photos, posters and press clippings, some of which date back to the Civil War.

FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN — A waifish Meryl Streep rests her chin on Christopher Lloyd’s shoulder. Bertram Ross places his hand on Martha Graham’s cheek. A pink ticket offers its holder the chance to watch Anna Pavlova dance with her Ballet Russe.
This is the photographic history of the Brooklyn Academy of Music and it is now available for public perusal through the Leon Levy BAM Digital Archive.
There are more than 70,000 playbills, posters and press clippings that date back to the civil war in the BAM exhibit that debuted Tuesday, as the New York Times first reported.

The photographs depict recent productions from the Royal Shakespeare Company, Peter Brook’s nine-hour production of The Mahabharata, and vintage posters from BAM’s many New Wave Festivals.
The materials have been organized to allow researchers to search by artist — there are nearly 40,000 depicted in the archive — and create their own collections, the Times reported.
