Beat the Heat: Cooling Centers Expected to Open

Temps in the mid-90s expected Wednesday and Thursday.

With the mercury expected to soar Wednesday through Friday, the heat won't be just an inconvenience for many Fort Greene-Clinton Hill residents.

For the elderly, very young and those with existing health problems—it'll be downright dangerous.

Here are the cooling centers expected to open in the neighborhood, according to nyc.gov:

Willoughby Senior Center
105 N. Portland Ave.
Hours: Mon.-Fri., 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Wheelchair Accessible?: Yes.

Hours: Mon., 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tue., 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.; Wed., 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Thurs.,  1 p.m. to 6 p.m.; Fri. 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Wheelchair Accessible?: No.

Hours: Mon.-Fri., 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Raices Times Plaza Senior Center
460 Atlantic Ave.
Hours: Mon.-Fri., 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
