BRIC JazzFest 2017: October Lineup Of Brooklyn Jazz Festival Announced

Jazz, and a lot of it, is coming to Fort Greene this October.

FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN — The group that brings Celebrate Brooklyn! to Prospect Park will present the third annual BRIC JazzFest in October, organizers announced Tuesday.

JazzFest will feature international musicians such as Maceo Parker, the Sun Ra Arkesta, Vijay Iyer and GoGo Penguin, as well as local talents Matana Roberts, Samora Pinderhughes and Theo Croker.

The festival will run from Oct. 14 through Oct. 21 at the BRIC House’s various performance spaces at 647 Fulton St.

Concert tickets go on sale Friday and cost $65 for a three-night package and $25 per night. There will also be $30 tickets sold at the door, depending on availability.

BRIC will also be screening two films on jazz, hosting a panel discussion on “jazz and justice,” and offering student workshops.

The Sun Ra Arkesta under the direction of Marshall Allen, Miles Mosley & The West Coast Get Down, Terri Lyne Carrington Band, Binky Griptite Orchestra, Mike Casey, Troker, and the Kavita Shah Quintet.

Friday, Oct 20 at 7:30 PM
Vijay Iyer, Samora Pinderhughes, Braxton Cook, Papo Vasquez Mighty Pirate Troubadours, Dave Douglas Meets The Westerlies, and Miramar.

Saturday, Oct 21, at 7:30 PM
Maceo Parker, Theo Croker Escape Velocity, GoGo Penguin: Koyaanisqatsi A new score (performed live), Rudresh Mahanthappa Indo-Pak Coalition, Harriet Tubman, Imani Uzuri: Wild Cotton, Butcher Brown, Matana Roberts.
